If you live in a new home, or even a prefab home, we’re sure your mind is escalating with ideas on how you will redecorate. Specifically what you can do to the walls of your brand new home. You’re probably thinking about which is the best option for your home. Is it best to go with wallpaper or paint?
Do you want your walls to have a chic design or just be consistent and simple? There are so many factors to think about when picking between wallpaper and paint, such as how long you want it to last. You might even want to add a bit of flavor to your home and have designs, patterns, or prints on it.
The factors can go on and on—making your decision even more difficult. To help you out, read on and we will lay it all out for you. You might not be aware of the differences and the new developments in wallpapers, or what kind of paint you need to look for.
Advantages of Wallpaper
It is said that wallpaper can last up to 15 years, so this will mean that you won’t need to keep on retouching it. You can leave it be for that many years, and it will save you from spending money now and then.
Wallpaper can also give your room a boost and style, making it seem homier if this is the look that you’re after. It certainly makes a statement.
Cons of Wallpaper
Wallpaper can be a bit difficult to apply and would require more effort, especially if your home has a lot of corners or edges. Unlike paint, if you dislike the wallpaper already installed on your walls, you suddenly changed your mind, or you just want something different, you can’t just paint over it.
Further, wallpaper needs to be applied correctly. Otherwise, it can easily peel off. Hiring someone would be best to avoid it from falling apart too soon. However, this also means extra expenses if you want the job done well.
Another problem that you would have to consider is the environment or rather, which room you’ll be using the wallpaper. If the room is too warm or there’s too much moisture in the air, it can peel off quickly.
Advantage of Paint
Paint comes in different textures such as satin, gloss, matte, etc., so you’ll have more to pick from. It can also be applied on your own, as there are brushes available to get into the tricky corners of your home.
Painting walls can also be exciting. I swear. You can do this with your loved ones making it seem like an activity that you can work on together.
Cons of Paint
When you get your walls painted, one problem that may arise is it being chipped off easily. If the wrong paint has been used and you have kids running around and playing with the walls, prepare to have it painted every so often.
Despite having so many varieties of paint, you might also have to spend more money on a good paint. This way it will last longer and look nicer in the end.
